Harvesting our Hazelnuts
What do we do with ALL the hazelnuts on our Hazelnut tree? We make hazelnut butter.
After a good shake of the tree, we collect the hazelnuts with anything that the tamariki think might be useful – such as baskets, wagons and trolleys. Next, the trusty hammers come out for the job of cracking the shells and getting those yummy nuts out. Then comes the Nutribullet to blend the nuts with some coconut oil and honey. After a quick taste, it’s off to the toaster where we toast some bread and spread our hazelnut butter on our toast…
Lastly, the most important part of the process: E.A.T.I.N.G our hazelnut butter toast… Ka mau te wehi tamariki mā.
