Matariki Lantern Festival

The time finally came for us to celebrate our annual Matariki Lantern Festival in 2021. What a WONDERFUL evening it was for us as a Pathways whanau to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and plan for the future. We started the evening with coming together and sharing some yummy soup and freshly baked buns and bread… we then sang our Matariki waiata before heading inside for our lantern story. We ended the evening with a BIG surprise… the City of Rotorua Highland Pipe Band leading us in our hikoi around our neighbourhood, with our lanterns swinging like little stars in the night!

For our Matariki Lantern Festival each year, our tamariki prepare their lanterns, waiata and yummy kai in excited anticipation for this special celebration…
